A Novel Idea: 07/12/16

Happy Monday everyone! How are y'all? I'm doing splendidly, thank you. :) 

I've saw this link-up bebopping around some other blogs, and I finally decided to jump into it. Since this week's prompt doesn't involve writing (as in actually writing something), this is perfect. :D 

Prompt: This week, make a collage with pictures that describe one of your characters. You can use pictures of your character or pictures that describe him/her (or both!). Have fun with this - don’t overthink it! Hopefully it’ll be a nice break from actually writing and help you learn more about your character at the same time!

First off this was a whole lot of fun. I love making collages, and I love scouring Pinterest for the perfect pictures to represent my characters. Anyway, here goes. I started out with like 30 pictures, so be glad I got it down to these... ;)

A Few of My Favorite Things! // Tag

Aloha, all! *waves* (No I'm not in Hawaii.) I know what you thought when you saw the title of this post... "What?? But she does soooo many tags!!!" But I also know that you're reading this anyway. B-) (Well, I hope you are. If you're not, then I... Wait, if you're not reading it you don't care, do you?) 

I can't believe it's been almost two weeks since I've posted here. Sowwwy. ^_^ As I mentioned before, construction is going on. Mom threatened to hack into this blog and leave a quick post telling you all what's happening and that you would see me here after it's all over. But she didn't. B-) Did she? *quickly scans over previous posts* Nope. ;) 

I do have oodles of post coming up soon though, so be watching. ;) Like seriously. My settings look like this... 

Draft, draft, draft, draft, draft. xP Blah. If your eyesight is good enough to make any of that out, congratulations. You get a sneak peek into upcoming stuff. ;P 

While we're on the subject of pictures and excuses for not blogging...my room looks like this right now...

I've been a horridly terrible blog follower lately too... :-/ So if you've posted something and I didn't comment, I did see it and I will get to you soon. :) (Translation: my inbox is beyond overflowing and I'm hoping to clear it out by...uh...July? *nods*) 

Anyhow. Lauren from Lauren's Amazing World tagged me for her own unique tag, A Few of My Favorite Things. :) Shall we get started?

RULES:

Before I get into my list of favorite things, I'm going to stop and say that, first, all of these favorite things are extremely random. And second, this is far from all of my favorite things. Thirdly, I noticed that like everyone else added family as one of their 'favorites', but I'm not. That's not to say my family isn't special! I'm just...not adding them to this list. ;) LOL. 

1) Dogs. 

Dogs are girls best friend! Well, this girl anyway. ;) Biskit is my 100+ pound Yellow Labrador Retriever. :) 

Biskit approves of my reading material. :) 

Biskit's brother, Bullet, is my brother's dog. He's smaller and darker in coat color. :) 

2) Candy. 

What would I do without candy?! One thing I probably wouldn't do without candy is write. ;) 

Skittles and Jolly ranchers are my favorites. :D

These are the best jolly ranchers. DO NOT ARGUE! 

3) Pottery. 

Some of you may not have known this, but I'm a potter. ;) I love all the aspects of pottery that I've been blessed to experience and learn from, but my favorite is wheel-throwing. :-) 

Some dishes from a dinner set I made last summer. 

Another important aspect of pottery (in my opinion at least ;)) is test tiles. Test tiles are small, hollow blocked used to test different glaze combinations. Lots of potters will keep their favorite test tiles, or all of them, on a shelf at easy access. And they're so pretty too! Here's mine. :) 

4) I Love Lucy

I Love Lucy is like my favorite TV show. It's an amazing comedy from the '50s starring Lucille Ball, and I absolutely adore it. :) 

5) Notebooks. 

Who doesn't love little books filled with blank paper?! :D I have lots of notebooks and binders for school, church, and writing notes. :) 

Just look at them in all their paper-filled glory. :) 

6) Music. 

What would I do without music?! Honestly, I listen to music all. The. Time. While I'm doing school, while I'm writing, while I'm reading, in the car... You name it, I've probably got my earbuds on. ;) 

7) Bloggers. 

That's right. You!! What would I do without all my blogger friends and followers? ^_^ 

8) Pictures. 

I love pretty, vintage-y pictures. (Check out my new header. :)) 

9) Good Books. 

I was originally going to include movies here (because y'all know I love books :P), but I decided against it. Because books are much easier for me to talk and talk and talk about. Books are amazing. Books are wonderful. Books are words upon words upon words. Books are life. *nod* :) 

10) *plays creepy music* Wait for it... 

Of course... World War Two. I know, I know, who has a favorite war?? But I really love reading about WWII and the '40s. :)

The Wonderful Book Tag!

Good day everyone! As I write (write sounds so much better than type) this, I'm gazing out the window at loads of glorious white stuff and procrastinating Biology. That's right, we finally got some snow. :-) Yay!!! We measured around fourteen inches and I'm enjoying it immensely! *squeals* I'm going to put up some pictures in a couple days. (Translate to – whenever I get them off Mom's phone. xD) 

Now for the purpose of this post... Rebekah Ashleigh tagged me for this cute book-y tag and it looks like so much fun. :) Here goes!

What are your top two favorite books? 

Just two?? Um, okay. A Distant Melody by Sarah Sundin and A Cousin's Promise by Wanda E. Brunstetter would have been my answer. But now I would probably have to say The Pirate Daughter's Promise by Molly Evangeline too. (Because I just read it and it's awesome. EVERYONE should read it...period.) I'm currently reading Dare by Tricia Mingerink and it'll be a 'favorite' too, once I'm finished. *ignores the fact that she gave more than two* *moves on* 

What are your top two favorite series? 

Again, just two? That is better than one though... ;) I'd have to say The Discovery Series by Wanda Brunstetter and Circle C Adventures by Susan Marlow. (Only because I'm going to say Wings of Glory several times before I'm finished...) 

Who is your favorite fictional character?

Walt Novak *cheesy grin* Or Mandie Shaw or Anne Shirley :D 

I'm assuming this means favorite character from a 'real' book (because it is the wonderful book tag. DUH.) but if that wasn't specified I'd say my character, David Carnathan. ;)  

If any one of your favorite books could be made into a movie which one would you want it to be?

A Distant Melody by Sarah Sundin!!!!!!!! If it was done right, it would be SO amazing!! :D The entire Wings of Glory series would make an amazing mini-series. :) Someone should do that. *makes mental note to write a letter filled with suggestions to a movie producer* 

What is your favorite genre to read?

Right now, I would say anything WWII, but previously I was in love with Amish fiction. :-) Fantasy currently isn't a favorite (but that could change), and I've never read dystopian or anything like that, but otherwise I read just about anything as long as it's clean, good, and I enjoy it. :-) 

Do you have a favorite author?

Several! ;) Susan Marlow, Sarah Sundin, Wanda Brunstetter, Deanna Klingel, and Lois Gladys Leppard. 

Is there a book that you can hardly wait for it to come out?

The last two books in the Circle C Milestones by Susan Marlow, anything by Sarah Sundin, and The Silent Blade and A Question of Honor by Jesseca Wheaton. *hint, hint* B-) 

What was one of your favorite childhood books? 

Guess How Much I Love You by Sam McBratney. Also, A Tent Too Full by Stephen White and If You Give a Moose a Muffin by Laura Numeroff. 

I think my parents had those memorized. Apparently I did too because if they tried to ad-lib it or skim the story (to make story time a little shorter) I would notice and tell them. B-)

Earliest Memories ~ Tag!

Hello everyone!!! Bethany from A Great God and Good Cocoa came up with this sweet tag and nominated me for it! :D Let's get started! 

1. What is your earliest memory?

Going fishing with my daddy when I was about three. :) When went out in this little lake in a john-boat. I don't remember us catching anything, but Dad might have. I remember having to where a life-vest (and not liking it one bit...) and eating M&Ms. :) Then, when we were leaving, Dad took me and put me in my carseat in the truck. When he went back for the boat, it had floated away... So he went for a little swim, needless to say. Hehe. ;) 

2. What is your earliest memory of a birthday? 

I can vaguely remember my fifth birthday. We had a party here at the house and I remember playing games in my room with others kids, but that's about it. I can distinctly remember all of us pushing on the bubble of a Trouble! game I'd just gotten. xD 

3. What is your earliest memory of a food?

My grandpa smoked salmon at the aforementioned birthday party. I don't remember birthday cake, but I remember the salmon! :-) 

4. What is your earliest memory of a gathering?

Does church count? I would say church and some family gatherings that I vaguely (there's that word again) remember. :-) 

5. What is your earliest memory of family?

Christmas Eve at my grandparents house every year. ;) 

6. What is your favorite memory?

That's tough... Okay, here's a few. ;) 

Although I've been homeschooled ever since, I went to a private Christian school for kindergarten. At this school the classes are so small that they combine ever two grades. Ex. K-4 and K-5, 1st and 2nd, etc. Me and another girl were the only two kindergartners that year, and there were three girls in K-4. No boys. It was a great year. B-) 

I've made lots of great memories camping with friends and family through the years. A mission trip I went on last year, and when we went out west this year would have to be at the top of my list too. ;) 

7. What is your earliest memory of a gift?

I'm sure there's something I've overlooked, but I'll just go with this. When I 'graduated' from kindergarten our teacher have each student (all five of us) a gift. I got a journal and a few other little things I can't remember. I loved it so much and it made me feel quite grown up. :) I still have it somewhere, I think. 

8. What is your earliest memory of an embarrassment?

Hmm... Okay, just telling this will be embarrassing. When I was about ten, a friend of mine's mom was in the hospital and we were going with Dad to see them. This was the maternity wing of the hospital so the doors were locked and someone would have to let us in. I saw this box-like thing on the wall with a handle that said "pull here". So I pulled it...and it came off in my hand. Alarms started going off, the doors started slamming. Mom tried to stick the thing back on the wall, but that wasn't happenin'. A nurse came running to see what was going on. She laughed at our interesting dilemma and let us in. To make matters worse, when we got to the room they asked what the alarms were about and Mom and Dad got to relay the story. I still haven't lived that one down... *sigh* 

9. What is your earliest memory of when you were scared?

At the Christian school I attended, I remember being terrified of the 1st-2nd grade teacher. One time in particular, we were sent to the 1st-2nd grade classroom because our teacher had to give some possible students' parents a tour of the school. I didn't enjoy it... (at all!!) 

Other memories of being scared would include the first time I got bee stung and being warned of fire ants at my grandparents house in Florida. (We don't have those little red-devils 'round here. ;) ) 

10. What is your earliest memory of a camp? 

A three day Girl Scout day camp the summer of 2008. I'd just started Girl Scouts at the time and I really enjoyed it. Those three days I spent at the rec park were a lot of fun. :-) 

11. How young were you when you received Christ? (optional)

I was eight. *smiles* When I was at the Christian school (mentioned above) I remember the teacher taking one of the girls in my room at going right outside the door. Everyone else in the class including me stayed in the classroom. Mrs. R was giving us an illustration of who was saved and who wasn't. That really made me think. :)

My school planner this year has these cute little sayings at the beginning if each month. I've been meaning to share them here for awhile and I'm finally getting around to it. :)
