What I saw ~ #2

When I did the first "Imagine This" post Emily asked what I 'saw' in the picture. And I posted a scene of what I saw. Well that has given me a brilliant idea! What if each time I do an "Imagine This" post, the next day I do a "What I Saw" post? Would anyone be interested?

Here's a scene inspired by the picture from "Imagine This" #2!

Seated in the chair next to her husband, Rachel's eyes took in the damage done by Barnard's men. Whenever she looked over at Will she saw him lying next to that stream.... She would never be able to forget that, but he did look better now.
A row of twelve neat stitches ran across the side of his head. His leg and shoulder had been broken so badly they'd required operations and were now casted. After his right arm had been cleaned and the bleeding staunched, it was heavily bandaged and now rested atop of a pillow at his side.
It was late and Rachel was exhausted but she doubted she'd be able to sleep. She reached for her Bible and placed it in her lap. She opened it to a random place and her gaze fell to Psalms 18:48.
"He delivereth me from mine enemies: yea, thou liftest me up above those that rise up against me: thou hast delivered me from the violent man." She repeated it and then whispered the last line. "Thou hast delivered me from the violent man..." The tears fell and splash onto the page of the Holy Book.
Carefully, so as not to jar the IV inserted in Will's hand, Rachel clasped his hand in hers.
Leaning over and gently kissing his cheek, she whispered. "I love you, Will. Good night."
Rachel leaned forward, resting her elbows on the bed with Will's hand between both of hers, and bowed her head. For a few moments the only sound in the room was the rattle of the ventilator. Then suddenly, the words seemed to pour out of her along with the tears.
"Dear God, I know you know what we're going through. You promised you will never leave us nor forsake us. And I know you're with us right now, in this hospital room.
"Lord, I pray, that you'll heal him...You're the Great Physician and I don't doubt for a second that you can.
"Give us both comfort, and give me strength. Please, be with Grace and Caleb. I know they're hurting. They're so young and they don't understand. don't understand. And-"
Rachel stopped short. He squeezed my hand. Will just squeezed my hand!
She looked up and found his eyes opening. Thank you, God!

I just realized there was no titles on the "Imagine This" #2 entries and I read them, judged them, and posted them without noticing it! *smacks forehead* Oh, well. :)

    1. Thank you, Rebekah! I'm glad you like them. :) I had originally wrote this when I first saw the picture, and I polished it up some and added to the beginning before posting. Reading yours I thought of this. :-)

  2. Great job, Faith! I love how, unlike the last image, most of us saw something similar in this one. Many of these stories have something, even if small, in common. That's neat!

Love what you did with this! :)
