12 Days of Christmas // Songs + Traditions

Hellooooo!! How are you lovely people today?! :D Today is day seven – can you believe we're already halfway through with the linkup? Today I'm going to share some family traditions and some of my favorite Christmas songs. Let's goooooooooo.... XD

Traditions...

Okay, so, family traditions. We don't have a ton of things that we do every year, and every Christmas is different in many ways, but there are a couple things we've been doing for as long as I can remember... :)

>> Christmas caroling! No, I don't mean the cute little kids you see in children's Chridtmas books who are all dressed the same and sing rather angelic-ly. I mean a bunch of people, kids and adults alike, bundled up in half the clothing they own and piling into the back of a truck. Going riding down a back road through the community (or, on the 4-lane...), pulling up to people's house and singing to get warm (doesn't work, but it's a nice thought). Like I said, it's cold you're singing and laughing and having such a good time you just don't care. Returning to the church and by this time you're so. darn. cold. (unless you're the driver, and that's just not fair) and eating whatever you're served along with lots of Christmas goodies until you're stuffed. That's the kind of caroling I'm talking about.

(We're going Christmas caroling with our church tomorrow night, peeps!)

>> Baking. And here I don't mean just baking for family, or even for some friends and neighbors. Something that has been our tradition for a long time (although we have missed a few times here and there, I believe...) is to bake extra goodies and fix plates of stuff to give to our mailman, UPS man, and trash man. (Yes, we know all three of them by name. I'm telling you, I live in Small Town, USA, y'all. Our mailman actually retired recently, but our UPS often ends up in deep discussions with my parents about life, dogs, and politics when he stops to deliver a package. *cough* Please tell me it's not just us?) Anyway, all that aside, it's a really fun tradition that I want to continue :)

Songs...

Here are a couple of Christmas songs that I love. Some of them I've only recently discovered, and others have been around for ages. :)

  1. It was so fun to see what some of your Christmas traditions are, Faith! :D
I've only been Christmas caroling a couple times, years ago, but it was really fun. Have a great time when you go tomorrow night!! :)
Baking is a lot of fun too. We do some Christmas baking. We haven't actually done any yet this year, but hopefully this week. ;)
Those are some fun songs, thanks for sharing! I heard in the MercyMe song, Hold on Christmas, them say something about watching It's a Wonderful Life. ;) I though of you :) Speaking of that, I finished that movie this morning. ;) I'll let you know what I thought of it later today. :)

Christmas caroling is just so much fun! Thank you! I'm pretty sure we wil... ;) Hehe.
We haven't did any Christmas baking yet this year (except for the recipe I shared the other day), but I want too. :) Mom and I were looking at recipes earlier!
Aren't they? Hehe, yes, the number one reason I love that song! :D Aww, you're sweet. <3 Ooo, yay! Looking forward to it! :)

      Thanks for commenting, Rebekah!

  2. Aw, those sound like fun traditions!! I would love to go caroling; I don't remember ever going (my singing voice is not exactly envied... XD)
I do remember when I was little, we baked cookies to bring to some of our neighbors, and we had a mail carrier for a while with whom my little brother became good friends. ;P
My post for tomorrow is about our family's traditions! ;)

    1. Glad you enjoyed! Yeah, caroling is a lot of fun. Even if you don't enjoy singing, just hanging out and having a good time. Haha, the eating is the best part, right? ;)

  4. I know our mailman and the mail lady who fills in! We've actually talked a lot with both. ^.^ I know our UPS guy pretty well, but haven't had in-depth convos...yet. ;) We don't have a trash-guy though.
But yes, you're not the only one - I appreciate mail-people ever so much! :)
